Webinar Recap: The Simplified ESRS – What Do They Mean in Practice?

On Friday, 12 December, we held a webinar on the newly released Simplified ESRS, with EFRAG tEG members and practitioners to discuss what the revisions mean for organisations preparing their sustainability reporting.

During the session, Christoph Töpfer (German Environment Agency) and Sandra Atler (Enact) shared perspectives on the most important changes in the Environmental (E) and Social (S) standards, and what companies should pay attention to as they navigate the simplified framework. We also included a short update on the latest Omnibus developments, reflecting on what they may mean for timelines and expectations.

The discussion focused on helping organisations understand the overall direction, how the Simplified ESRS differs from the current standards, what remains essential, and how companies, including those preparing their first ESRS report, can approach upcoming reporting cycles in a structured and pragmatic way.
