Sandra Atler is the Director of the Human Rights and Business Practice Group and Senior Advisor at Enact. She is an internationally recognised expert on business and human rights and Sandra supported the UN Special Representative on Business and Human Rights Harvard Professor John Ruggie and his team in the development of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. She is a human rights lawyer with a law degree from Stockholm University and an LL.M.-degree from Columbia University Law School where she was a Fulbright scholar. Sandra has supported numerous multinational companies, state-owned enterprises and organisations across the world and from various industries to understand and manage their human rights risks. Between 2011 and 2013 she focused on projects in Africa. She has also worked extensively with implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in the mining sector.
Sandra was also chair of the NGO-caucus in the development of ISO 26000 Guidance Standard on Social Responsibility and a core member of the international standard drafting team. In addition, she co-chaired the ad-hoc working group on human rights for five years. Sandra has great experience working as a human rights promoter in civil society.
An experienced trainer and lecturer, she contributes to awareness and knowledge of human rights issues in relation to business on a global scale.
