Femke Lotgerink is a consultant and project manager at Enact, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She has experience in social value creation and human rights protection in international supply chains, as well as in developing broader corporate sustainability strategies that include environmental impact assessments and sustainability reporting. She has a deep understanding of what it means to use business as a force for good.
Femke was one of the first members of the impact team of award winning impact enterprise Tony’s Chocolonely, where she was responsible for the development and implementation of Tony’s sourcing principles and child labour prevention system, in close collaboration with cocoa producers in Ghana and the Ivory Coast. On top of that she created Tony’s first environmental policy and contributed heavily to impact communication and the annual sustainability reports. After Tony’s, Femke spent multiple years as a sustainability manager in the fashion industry. During this time she gained in-depth knowledge on material use and product manufacturing, particularly in cotton and leather supply chains. More particularly, she worked directly with Indian producers on improving gender equality, implementing living wages and identifying, mitigating and solving human rights risks in factory settings. Additionally, she has led projects for the Center of Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries, part of the Dutch Enterprise Agency and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In those projects she was responsible for building sustainable trade relations between the EU and SMEs in cocoa, coffee, spices and textiles from Africa and Southeast Asia. Femke has a deep understanding of certification schemes, both on commodity level such as Fairtrade as well as business level such as SA8000 for manufacturers or B Corp for consumer brands.
Femke holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a cum laude Master’s degree in Organisational Sciences.
