Michael Runey is a consultant and project manager at Enact. As part of the Human Rights and Business Practice Group, his work is focused on conducting human rights due diligence and helping companies, public organizations and non-profits evaluate their work in business and human rights.
Michael comes to Enact from civil society, most recently working for the Stockholm-based international human rights organization Civil Rights Defenders. He has worked as a project manager, researcher and journalist, and lived and worked in South Korea, Guatemala, Colombia, Ukraine and Georgia. His writing on human rights and sociopolitical issues in the countries of the former Soviet Union has been published by Eurasianet, openDemocracy, SVT and Meydan TV, and he is a frequent contributor to Freedom House’s analytical reports on Azerbaijan.
Michael has a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.A. in International Development from the University of Denver. He speaks English, Swedish and Russian.
