Our consultant Anne Manschot graduated with honours last year for her research on the effectiveness of social compliance audits. During this breakfast seminar, she will present the main outcomes of her paper and discuss recommendations for brands, auditors, standard setters and other actors.
Companies ask their suppliers to comply with international guidelines regarding human rights, and specifically labour rights. To check whether this is actually happening, audits are carried out at the suppliers – whether or not by third parties. A positive audit report should demonstrate that the supplier is actually caring for its employees. In her paper ‘Can a picture say more than a thousand words? Examining the effectiveness of social compliance auditing’, Anne examined whether a certificate or an audit report actually contributes to improving the labour conditions in the workplace.
Breakfast will be provided in the form of a buffet. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know upon registration.
