Planning workshop to measure and reduce climate impacts

Business challenge
Our client works within the transport and logistics sector and wanted to measure and reduce its climate impacts. Among other things, they wanted to be able to provide their customers with credible figures on the CO2 emissions associated with particular deliveries or transportation. There was also a need to adapt to external regulations. In addition, they wanted to be seen as a responsible player in the market. To be able to begin this work, the client needed to answer several important questions: Where do we start? What should we measure? How should the information be presented?

Our solution
Enact assisted the client with an initial planning workshop for employees that were to be involved in new efforts to make the company more responsible and sustainable. During an afternoon, Enact led a tailor-made workshop, which consisted of three sessions: risk analysis, stakeholder dialogue and benchmarking. In addition, we held a lecture on the global changes resulting from climate change, political action that is in effect and that would be required to mitigate the effects of climate change, and how the company’s business environment is – and will be – affected. Finally, we explored strategies for how the work could best be planned and implemented by the company going forward.

Results
The workshop increased knowledge and enthusiasm within the project group that was to be responsible for reducing climate impacts and increasing customer satisfaction. The project group also developed a list of concrete actions to pursue and nominated a person to be responsible for each action. The company has consequently structured and planned its new climate change mitigation plan through a simple workshop. Thanks to the work now under way, the company will be able to live up to demands from customers, legislation and regulations – and turn potential risks into opportunities.
