Identifying global risk zones in the face of human rights

Business challenge
Our client is a multinational industrial company based in approximately 40 countries, boasting its own production sites in some of these countries. The company came across a number of unidentified risks in the area of Human Rights, more specifically child labour, forced labour and corruption. Consequently the company wanted to extend its knowledge and initiate a scheme to manage these risks.

How we helped
Through the help of contacts and information from leading human rights organisations, Enact was able to identify the most relevant risks in relation to geography and business activities. In practice the data resulted in a report on all countries documenting issues in relation to freedom of assembly, freedom of association, forced labour, slave labour as well as child labour. We conducted an indepth analysis on the worst human rights abuse taking place in the relevant geographical areas.

Results
The client has been able to use Enact's research methods and findings as a tool for improving those parts of the company supply chain where there's been a lack of quality and control.
